VM series Mikuni carburettors
Mikuni VM series carburettors are fitted to a number of classic 1970’s four stroke four cylinder machines by Suzuki and Kawasaki, including the Z series and the GS series. Many of the best sports bikes of the 1970’s are therefore included.
Most original fuel T pieces were a cast alloy component, with rubber/composition ends to seal into the carburettor bodies. Different machines had different T piece arrangements. Either:
- 1 single central T piece between carburettors 2 and 3, (with links between carburettors 1 and 2 and between carburettors 3 and 4). The central T piece has variations, depending on the position of the assembly idle speed adjustment. JRS stocks all variations
or
- 2 smaller T pieces, between carburettors 1 and 2 and between carburettors 3 and 4. .
The original T pieces suffered from age, heat and work hardening. They also allow moisture to access the carburettor body which encourages corrosion. In time these components will leak and when they do, the only effective cure is replacement. Will you have the relevant part? Replacement requires the separation of the carburettor assembly, thus not a roadside job!!
The JRS T piece is a well designed and substantial component, CNC machined, with 2 Viton O rings at either end. It is a particularly snug fit into the carburettor bodies, and ensures a fuel tight joint, even in situations where the bodies have been damaged by corrosion and wear. They look superb.

Central (larger) T piece (any application): £25.00
Links (2 per assembly): £15.00
Smaller T piece (2 per bank of 4 carbs): £15.00

These can be fitted at a cost of £40.00 plus carriage but there is no fitting charge if carburettors are sent to JRS for Comprehensive Overhaul or Restoration.
